Who and What?
This event will be hosted by members of the Eclecticity band, along with other members of the Western Community and Young Contributors to Read the Dirt Organization. We have been in the studio recording our second album, and one of the tracks calls for a choir. We are hoping to capture the “live feel” by allowing students and community members to come share there voice with us and be recorded as a choir on a track that sends out a message of unity and hope for our children and the generations coming after us.
Why?
The “Peoples Choir” will also serve as gathering; an event that unites our campus’s clubs, cultures, religious groups and political advocates. It will not provide any solutions to the problems that our generation faces, but will merely serve as a reminder that a college is an amazing platform for growth, networking and discussion. The idea is that this event can and will enforce the notion that all of us do realize there is something we need to change in concerns with the directions our world is heading. It will allow students to reflect on what we are doing, why we are here, and the beauty among us all
The overall purpose will be to show our generation and our community that we are merely contributing “a positive piece” to the puzzle. We want to make our music something that provides inspiration for those involved and for those who feel let down by the negativity that can often reach us all. “a lift of spirits”
There will be time for an open forum, that will harness the purpose of Young Contributors to Read the Dirt’s writing competition that allows you to express your inspirations, why you are here, what you want to see changed in your community or in the world, and what your passions are.
